UaGateway  1.5.9.466
User Interface and Settings

This section describes the Configuration Tool of the UaGateway in a more detailed way, explaining how to configure the GUI, activate traces and configure them. Via Help → What’s This? you can get more information about the functionality of the different windows or buttons.

User Interface

General Description

The following screenshot shows the default appearance of the Configuration Tool. In the left part of the window, the Devices Address Space window, you’ll find the channels activated in the ChannelsChannels" Tab" of the Administration Tool.

The content of the Main Window depends on what is selected in the Devices Address Space Window. If you’re selecting a server category (e.g. "OPC UA Servers"), a list of all configured servers of this type is shown in the main window. Click on the button "Add Server..." to configure a new server connection. Select a server from the list and press the button "Edit Server" to change the configuration details or "Remove Server" to remove the server from the list.

When selecting a specific server from the list and clicking on "Edit Server"(or when selecting the server in the Devices Address Space Window), the detailed server configuration is shown in the Main Window. Here, you can connect/disconnect the server and edit the configuration details.

See the HowTos HowTo: Add and Connect to an Underlying UA Server and HowTo: Add and Connect to a COM Server containing quick descriptions and the section OPC Server Configuration for more details on the configuration options.

Set Window Appearance

By right clicking on the tool bar of the Configuration Tool it is possible to activate or deactivate different windows like the Log Window to get more information about the connection status or the Project Window to be able to add connections to different UaGateways in the network.

Project

When activating "Project", a new tab appears and you can view the Project Window instead of the Device Address Space window. This window is only necessary if you are connecting to a remote UaGateway in addition to the local UaGateway. Then you can connect/disconnect/configure a specific UaGateway in this window.

Use the buttons "+" and "-" from the toolbar to add or remove a UaGateway, the plug connector buttons to connect or disconnect, and the wrench button to display and change the settings for a specific UaGateway. These options can also be accessed by performing a right click in the Project Window.

Devices Address Space

This window is always enabled and gives you the possibility to add and connect to OPC Servers. Maybe not all server types shown in the screenshot are visible. To enable or disable the configuration option for certain server types, activate the corresponding channel in the Administration Tool. For more information on how to configure OPC Servers, see OPC Server Configuration, HowTo: Add and Connect to an Underlying UA Server and HowTo: Add and Connect to a COM Server.

Log

If this option is activated, the Log Window shows up at the bottom of the Configuration Tool. Here all connections and activities will be traced out.

By clicking on the red cross button, the log history is cleared. You can save the log to a text file by pressing the disk symbol button.

Configure Configuration Tool

Via Settings → Configure Configuration Tool it is possible to set more detailed settings. For instance the trace of the Configuration Tool can be enabled/disabled or the trace level can be set. You can also set the different timeouts, turn off the update check or change the default update intervals to your fit.

Sometimes it can be helpful to change the timeout settings to connect to some servers, e.g. if the connection to the UaGateway is slow or the address space of the desired server is too big. Some of these settings will only take effect if all connections to the servers are closed or after a restart of the Configuration Tool.

Using the filter at the top of the window, you can limit the parameters to those containing the characters entered. The filter is not case sensitive.
