Edit Nodes

The layout of the document differs depending on the desired node class of the new node. But the general layout is the same for all kinds of node classes. All document classes have the five following tabs:

Parent
In this tab you can see the parent node of the new node and the reference type from the parent to the new node. In some kinds of documents you can change the parent node and the reference type, in the other kinds of documents you cannot edit them.
Instance/Type
In this tab you set the base attributes of the node. Depending on the node class these attributes can differ. For all kinds node classes you can set the name and namespace of the node. The name is not a real UA attribute, it is only a helper field to set the display namespace and the browse name in one step.
Additional Attributes
In this tab you can set the attributes of the node that cannot be set in the Instance/Type tab. These attributes are depending on the node class of the node. For all node classes you can set the display name, the browse name and the description. In most use cases you will only set the name in the Instance/Type tab, and so get default entries for the display name and the browse name.
Children
In this tab you can add and modify the node’s children. Depending on the node class of the node these children can be other nodes or other elements that describe the node. For some node classes children cannot be added.
References
In this tab you can add additional references from the node to other nodes. This is not supported for all node classes.
