HowTo: Add and connect to a COM Server

This HowTo describes how to add and connect to a local COM DA3 Server from UaGateway using local discovery

To add and connect a COM Server to the UaGateway, just start the Configuration Tool of the UaGateway (either via the start menu shortcut or by right clicking on the Systray icon). Locate the Devices Address Space window on the left side of the Configuration Tool and select OPC COM DA Servers. In the middle window the configuration for COM Servers will appear. Just click on Add Server... to add a new COM Server to the UaGateway.

A new window (Add COM Server) appears, where all needed information about the target COM Server has to be configured. To add a local COM Server, click on Local and select the desired COM DA Server (here: OPC Foundation's OPCSample.OpcDaServer.1).

After pressing the button Add & Close the COM Server's status will be displayed. The OPC COM DA Server is connected immediately. To check if the connection has been established, right click on the server in the "Devices Address Space" and click "Rebrowse". The displayed connection status of the server should now show "Connected".
